 The next challenge was to obtain an erosion control permit to clear and plant our vineyard. The permit required that we retain 60% of the natural vegetation, thus protecting the wildlife habitat for plants and animals indigenous to this land.
We planted our vines between 1997 and 2002. The vineyard consists of 29 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6 acres of the blending varietals, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. In pursuit of maximizing our options we utilized several different root stocks and clones for our Cabernet and Merlot plantings.
