Our Sauvignon Blanc comes from Betty’s home estate in Oakville and was fermented in a combination of 28% French oak barrels, 17% stainless steel barrels, and 55% concrete and was sur lie aged for 12 months. The wine is pale yellow with brilliant clarity with classic sauvignon blanc aromas. Vibrant citrus and fresh-cut grass unfold into lush notes of bosc pear and guava. Bright acidity carries flavors of ripe stone fruit, zesty lemon, and a touch of honeydew provides a beautiful balance of texture and freshness. Pleasant minerality lingers, adding depth and elegance.
We planted our Oakville Estate Chardonnay vineyard in 2007 on the western fringe of a young alluvial fan sourced from the Vaca Mountains. This is a unique vineyard planted to tight spacing at only 6 x 4 feet and field selection of clones from some of the best vineyards in California. The wine is whole cluster pressed directly to a mix of vessels, 38% new French oak barrels, 16% neutral oak, 32% concrete tank, and 14% stainless steel, sur lie aged for 11 months before bottling. Light to medium yellow, with a bright, youthful hue. The nose is wonderfully aromatic, with notes of honeysuckle, meyer lemon, mango and pineapple. These fruity aromas are balanced by a subtle undercurrent of floral and honeyed nuances, adding depth and complexity. On the palate, the wine reveals a smooth and balanced profile. Ripe pear and tropical fruit flavors bring a juicy, vibrant quality. The wine’s moderate acidity is well-integrated, offering a refreshing backbone that keeps the flavors lively and engaging without overpowering the fruit. The texture is round and elegant, with a clean and inviting mouthfeel.
Blended from our three Estate vineyards in arguably the three best appellations within the Napa Valley: Howell Mountain, Mt. Veeder and Oakville. Howell Mountain gives us structure and ripe red fruit, while Mt. Veeder adds an extra punch of tannins along with savory mineral driven qualities, Oakville balances out the mountains with its silky texture and pure fruit. This Cabernet is deep ruby red with an opaque center. Bold aromas of aged leather, black currant, and rum raisin, creating a layered and complex bouquet. A luxuriously sweet and rich entry, unfolding with ripe blackberry and velvety cocoa powder. The texture is smooth yet structured, balanced by moderate tannins and a medium level of acidity, leading to a long, elegant finish.
We are grateful for the help of our neighbors and friends, the Beatty family, during the 2020 fires and are pleased to introduce our first and only non-estate wine: our 2021 Howell Mountain "Beatty Ranch" Zinfandel. Grown at 1,800 feet elevation, these vines were planted over 100 years ago and are the oldest vines planted on Howell Mountain.
